How do I book an appointment?

Contact your GP Practice in the usual way to request an appointment. If there is no appointment available for you at the practice they may offer you an appointment with the GP Enhanced Access Service, if this is right for you. If your practice is closed and you need a GP please contact the Out-of-Hours service through NHS 111. Please note that your consent will be required in order for an appointment to be booked for you. If urgent care is required, please call ‘111’ for further advice. If your need is life threatening, please go to A&E or call 999. For support with the management of minor ailments, please contact your local pharmacist or visit the NHS Choice website www.nhs.uk or call 111 – www.111.nhs.uk

Will I see my own GP and/or Nurse?

You will be seen by experienced Northampton GPs and Nurses, but it is unlikely that you will be seen by your own GP or Nurse. If you would prefer to see your usual GP or Nurse, please book an appointment with your usual GP practice during their normal opening hours.

Will the GP I see have access to my medical record during my appointment?

Your medical record will, with your consent, be available to the Health Care Professional that speaks to you or sees you to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible car. A summary of your appointment will be sent back to your own GP practice electronically to ensure that your record is up-to-date. An appointment with this service will be just like an appointment at your own GP practice. Click the link for further information about how we use your Data, Privacy and the Law.

Remembrance Day

We, at Moulton Surgery are proud to be an accredited Veteran Friendly GP practice and to support our veteran community this Remembrance Day.

As a Veteran Friendly GP Practice, we:

  • Have a clinical lead for veteran health Dr Darin Seiger, who is supported by the whole practice to improve veteran health services.
  • Ask patients ‘Have you served in the Armed Forces?’ to help identify veteran patients and code them on our system.
  • Support veteran patients to access dedicated health services.
  • Undertake regular training and development to meet the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant and better understand the needs of veteran patients.

If you’re a veteran patient, please let us know that you have served so that we can make sure that we understand your health needs.

A University of Chester study revealed that the Veteran Friendly Accreditation programme, which is run by the Royal College of General Practitioners in partnership with NHS England, leads to better healthcare. To find out more about the veteran friendly practices accreditation scheme, visit www.rcgp.org.uk/veterans.

How long will your infection last?

Earache: most get better by 8 days. Sore throat: Most get better by 7-8 days. Cold: Most get better by 14 days. Cough: Most get better by 21 days.

Children

All children get colds. This is a normal part of growing up and no medicines can prevent them. The best way to look after your child is to make sure they have plenty to drink and if they have a temperature some paracetamol will help. Most doctors don’t recommend cough medicines and antibiotics won’t help a cold.
